Position Summary
The Weekend Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating nursing services during weekend operations to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and resident-centered care. The RN Supervisor provides clinical leadership, supports nursing staff, responds to emergencies, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains continuity of care in accordance with federal regulations, Florida laws, and facility policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and support licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants during assigned shifts.
- Ensure quality resident care is provided in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility policies.
- Make routine rounds to assess residents, monitor staff performance, and identify clinical concerns.
- Assess residents experiencing changes in condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Notify physicians, responsible parties, and the Director of Nursing as appropriate regarding significant resident changes.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide clinical leadership during urgent situations.
- Review admissions, transfers, discharges, and readmissions to ensure compliance with facility procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Monitor medication administration practices and ensure compliance with medication safety standards.
- Address resident, family, and staff concerns professionally and promptly.
- Participate in infection prevention activities and ensure adherence to infection control policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, Florida Administrative Code, and facility policies.
- Assist with staffing assignments, scheduling adjustments, and call-outs as needed.
- Complete incident investigations and required reports.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide coaching, education, and mentorship to nursing staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum of one to two years of supervisory experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, CMS regulations, and Florida nursing home regulations.
- Strong assessment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents as necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when required.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
