We are seeking an experienced Trucking Safety Manager to oversee safety, compliance, permits, claims, and regulatory programs for our trucking operations. This role is responsible for ensuring company drivers, equipment, and operations remain compliant with DOT/FMCSA regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in trucking safety, driver compliance, accident handling, IFTA reporting, DataQs, permits, insurance claims, and fleet documentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & DOT Compliance
- Manage company safety programs in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor driver compliance, including hours of service, ELD usage, log audits, DVIRs, medical cards, CDLs, and driver qualification files.
- Maintain and update driver qualification files and safety records.
- Conduct safety meetings, driver coaching, and training sessions.
- Investigate accidents, roadside inspections, violations, and safety incidents.
- Track CSA scores and develop corrective action plans to improve safety performance.
- Prepare for DOT audits and assist with compliance reviews.
IFTA, IRP, Permits & Regulatory Filings
- Handle IFTA reporting, fuel tax documentation, mileage records, and quarterly filings.
- Manage IRP registration, cab cards, apportioned plates, renewals, and required documentation.
- Obtain and maintain trucking permits, including oversize/overweight permits, state permits, trip permits, fuel permits, and temporary operating authority when needed.
- Ensure trucks and trailers have proper permits, registrations, decals, and compliance documents.
- Maintain accurate records for all permits, renewals, and regulatory deadlines.
DataQs & Roadside Inspection Management
- Review roadside inspections and violations for accuracy.
- File and manage DataQs challenges when incorrect violations or inspection details are identified.
- Track inspection results and follow up with drivers regarding violations or safety concerns.
- Work to reduce violations and improve company safety scores.
Claims & Accident Handling
- Manage accident and cargo claims from start to finish.
- Coordinate with insurance companies, adjusters, brokers, drivers, law enforcement, repair shops, and customers.
- Collect accident reports, photos, statements, dashcam footage, police reports, and supporting documentation.
- Track claim status and ensure timely communication with all involved parties.
- Identify accident trends and recommend preventive measures.
Driver Management & Training
- Onboard new drivers and ensure all required documentation is completed.
- Conduct orientation covering safety policies, ELD procedures, inspections, accident reporting, and company rules.
- Monitor driver performance and provide coaching when needed.
- Address unsafe driving behavior, violations, late paperwork, and compliance issues.
Pay: $50,776.01 - $61,149.61 per year
