Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Director - Physician to lead our clinical operations and ensure the highest standards of patient care, medical management, and healthcare compliance. Responsibilities
- Provide expert medical leadership by developing clinical protocols, policies, and procedures aligned with industry standards such as NCQA and HIPAA regulations.
- Oversee the management of electronic health records (EHR) systems and ensure accurate documentation of medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Lead clinical research projects, ensuring adherence to FDA regulations and supporting the development of new treatments or healthcare solutions.
- Supervise medical staff, including physicians and allied health professionals, fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement and professional development.
- Manage healthcare operations by coordinating utilization management, practice management, and hospital-based services to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare laws such as HIPAA, DEA regulations, and other federal or state mandates related to medical practice management.
- Collaborate with administrative teams on budgeting, strategic planning, and implementing innovative solutions for practice growth and efficiency.
- Promote academic leadership through teaching opportunities, supervising research activities, and participating in professional conferences or publications.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with post-residency experience in a relevant specialty.
- Proven leadership experience in clinical settings, hospital environments, or managed care organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical development processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in EMR/EHR systems, healthcare compliance standards (including NCQA), and medical records management.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations concerning drug approval processes and clinical research protocols.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Supervisory experience supervising medical staff or managing multidisciplinary teams within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules, DEA regulations for controlled substances, and healthcare quality improvement strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clinicians, administrators, researchers, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to lead change initiatives while fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and excellence in patient care.
