Operating Room Technician / Surgical Technologist
Location: Johnson City, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 09/14/2026
Shift: Days | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Job Responsibilities
- Follow infection control policies and procedures and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique.
- Adhere to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively.
- Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments and other related items during procedures.
- Anticipate the surgeon’s needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
- Maintain an organized operative field and keep instruments clean and properly arranged.
- Maintain accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument counts.
- Prepare supplies and equipment according to preference cards and care appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case.
- Provide a safe surgical environment and assist with preoperative equipment checks.
- Assist with suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon.
- Handle and identify specimens according to policy.
- Expedite effective and efficient turnover of the operating room between cases.
- Take rotating call duty and perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Required.
- BLS Certification – Required.
- Experienced with surgical procedures including orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, podiatry, ENT, and pain management.
- EPIC experience.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience working as an OR scrub technician.
- Ability to work effectively as part of the OR team and serve as a resource to other OR personnel.
Pay: $48.00 - $52.00 per hour
