HR Payroll and Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR, Payroll & Safety Manager to join our growing electrical contracting company. This position plays a critical role in supporting our field and office teams by managing human resources functions, overseeing payroll and compliance requirements, and coordinating company safety initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in the construction industry and possess a strong understanding of certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, union payroll administration, and employee relations. This individual must be highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities - Human Resources:
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions
- Coordinate performance review processes and employee development initiatives
- Support recruiting efforts, including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and hiring coordination
- Assist with employee relations matters and policy administration
- Maintain employee handbook and company policies
Payroll & Compliance:
- Process weekly payroll accurately and timely
- Administer union payroll and benefit reporting requirements
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects
- Manage fringe benefit calculations and union remittances
- Coordinate payroll reporting and audits as required
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation
Safety Administration
- Coordinate company safety programs and initiatives
- Track employee safety training, certifications, and licensing requirements
- Schedule and document safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and compliance reporting
- Manage incident reporting and workers' compensation claims administration
- Maintain safety documentation and compliance records
- Support management in fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in human resources, payroll, office management, or compliance administration
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience processing certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting required
- Experience with union payroll administration and benefit remittances preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance and safety administration preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll practices and employment regulations
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with construction software and payroll systems is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
