Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist is a key member of the imaging team, responsible for performing high-quality breast imaging to assist physicians in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. This role involves operating radiologic equipment, preparing exam rooms, positioning patients safely and correctly and capturing diagnostic images in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols.
The Mammography Technologist ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies. Attention to detail, strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential in this role.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performing diagnostic breast imaging procedures using approved techniques and equipment
- Preparing and maintaining equipment and exam rooms for each procedure
- Accurately positioning patients and ensuring appropriate shielding to minimize radiation exposure
- Following physician orders and protocols to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
- Monitoring patients during procedures and responding to any needs or concerns
- Maintaining accurate patient records and entering exam data into the electronic health record (EHR)
- Adhering to infection control, safety and radiation protection standards
- Assisting with quality assurance activities and participating in ongoing departmental improvements
- Communicating effectively with patients, families and members of the care team to ensure a positive imaging experience
- Supporting the mission, vision and values of Wallowa Memorial Hospital through professionalism and excellence in care
