Duties
- Assist chefs with preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support the assembly of sushi rolls and other menu items following established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment in compliance with food safety management practices
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, and refrigeration units
- Help with food handling procedures to ensure freshness, quality, and safety throughout the preparation process
- Follow strict safety standards during food production to prevent cross-contamination and ensure hygiene compliance
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and meet service deadlines
Skills
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with food handling and safety protocols
- Strong food industry background or restaurant experience, especially in fast-paced environments requiring multitasking
- Knowledge of menu planning and meal preparation techniques specific to sushi or Japanese cuisine preferred
- Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with kitchen staff and team members
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while adhering to safety standards in production
- Proficiency in food safety management practices, including proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
