American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Observation Unit night shift position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Work in the Medical Observation Unit of a Level 1 Trauma hospital
-
Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
-
36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
-
Holiday coverage required every other holiday
-
Floating required to similar units
-
Uses Epic EMR system
-
IV site assessments required every 4 hours per unit protocol
-
Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
-
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
-
Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
-
Level 1 Trauma center experience required
-
Epic charting experience required
-
ASN required, BSN preferred
-
Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
-
Fluent in written and spoken English
-
Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing

Multicultural sensitivity required

Serve as primary caregiver for an assigned group of patients, utilizing the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care
-
Complete initial patient assessments and develop care plans based on patient and family needs
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation to support care coordination among the healthcare team
-
Identify and respond to changes in patient status
-
Start new IVs in accordance with facility policy
-
Maintain documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits
-
Attend at least 5 of 6 staff meetings annually
-
Report and correct safety hazards affecting patients and staff
-
Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in ongoing professional development
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
-
RTO limited to no more than 7 total days during the 13-week contract
-
Contingent workers may not remain continuously on assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a required 6-month break in service
