Coastal Outdoor Living is looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to lead our in-house deck crew.
This is a hands-on position. You'll be on the tools every day, building decks, porches, pergolas, and other outdoor living projects alongside your crew. We believe the best leaders lead by example.
This is a working lead position. Approximately 80 to 90% of your time will be spent building alongside your crew, with the remaining time focused on planning, quality control, training, and coordinating projects.
You'll lead a crew of two helpers and be responsible for producing high-quality work while training your team, maintaining our standards, and ensuring every project is completed professionally.
As Coastal Outdoor Living continues to grow, this position has the opportunity to grow into a larger leadership role within the company.
Responsibilities
- Lead a two-person crew on residential outdoor living projects.
- Build decks, stairs, railings, pergolas, porches, and related structures.
- Work alongside your crew every day.
- Read plans and ensure projects are built according to our standards.
- Maintain quality throughout every stage of construction.
- Train and develop crew members into skilled carpenters.
- Keep jobs organized, clean, and safe.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on scheduling, materials, and inspections.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners when needed.
- Identify and solve field issues before they become customer problems.
- Represent Coastal Outdoor Living with professionalism on every job site.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of carpentry or framing experience.
- Experience building decks from layout through completion.
- Ability to read construction plans and layouts.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Enjoys teaching and developing others.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.

- Composite decking (Trex, TimberTech, etc.)
- Custom stairs and railings
- Screen porches
- Pergolas
- General framing
- Equipment operation
- Crew leadership
