POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for interpreting project blueprints, designing programs and setting up machines to produce the component outlined in the program. The person must perform test runs and make adjustments until the resulting product meets blueprint specifications. The ideal candidate will also assist other CNC operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, and material staging. The person must be skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced with CNC Machines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with these blueprints and drawings
· Program CNC machines using Fusion 360, troubleshoot code, and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency
· Use computer software program and model cutting paths and program machines accordingly
· Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
· When programming, consider material alloy, thickness and gas required to cut materials
· Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise
· Ensure production schedule followed through as allocated by the scheduling department
· Assist in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain production schedule
· Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations
· Recommend and implement processes for more efficient production and reduce down-time
Qualifications:
· Three or more years’ experience programming and operating CNC cutting machines
· Minimum of 3-years’ experience as a fabricator & machine programmer/operator using a variety of machine & fabricating equipment, tools, and procedures
· Working experience on multiple brands of CNC machines such as Amada, Mazak, Bystronic
· Demonstrate drawing and reading comprehension skills
· Strong troubleshooting skills for machine issues, tooling problems, and programming errors.
· Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
· Understanding of machine shop safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
· Experience with multi-axis CNC machines and advanced machining techniques.
· Knowledge of additional CAD/CAM software is a plus.
· Ability to inspect flat laser/plasma cut parts with precision inspection equipment
· Knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals
· Familiarity with sheet metal flat patterns preferred
· Knowledge of calculating, converting, and using measurements accurately
· Reading fractions & decimals (must know how to convert fractions to decimals)
· Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and geometry)
· Self-starter attitude and great attention to detail
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment
· Professional Certifications recommended
· Must be dependable and able to work overtime hours
· Must be a positive team player to reach daily work schedule goals
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
