A large, private kennel located near Walterboro, SC is seeking a full time veterinary technician. The successful candidate will have sufficient job experience to be able to assist our veterinarians with the daily care of our residents. The following skills and abilities are required:
· Preform exams and assist with diagnosis
· Triage and emergency wound care
· Knowledge of animal socialization and groupings
· Assisting in surgeries
· Blood collection
· Preform lab tests
· Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records
· IV catheter placement
· Prepare and administer medications
· Laboratory tests: fecal examinations, urinalysis, run blood-work and prepare samples
· Dental care

Starting pay will depend on experience. Pay will increase quickly based on performance. Future raises are given based on performance reviews.
**All positions are mostly outdoors. You will be working in summer heat, winter cold, and in the rain.
A successful candidate:

- Can lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Dependable and reliable

- Must be able to work occasional weekends
- Must have patience when caring for and handling animals
- Must have driver’s license and your own transportation
- Must be looking for long term employment, preferably more than a year.
- Work an average of 40 hours per week
All job positions include:
- Cleaning animal cages, and walkways
- Feeding and watering animals
- Handling and restraining animals
- Recording observations
- Carrying 50-pound bags of feed multiple times a day
- A high school diploma or GED
- Additional tasks as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 42 per week
