Position Summary
RDS Machine is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support our second-shift manufacturing operations. This position performs dimensional and visual inspections of precision-machined components to verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
The Quality Inspector will conduct first-piece, in-process, pre-coating, post-coating, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment. This role works closely with Manufacturing and Quality personnel to identify nonconforming parts, communicate inspection results, and support consistent production quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-piece inspections to confirm production setups meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of in-process and finished precision-machined components.
- Perform pre-coating, post-coating, layout, and final inspections as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, comparators, dial bore gages, profilometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Set and verify gaging equipment used by manufacturing personnel.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
- Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming or questionable material.
- Perform in-process audits to help monitor manufacturing processes.
- Communicate dimensional and quality concerns to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality personnel.
- Support continuous improvement activities and projects focused on product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Follow all applicable safety, quality, ISO, and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, technical training, or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of dimensional inspection experience in precision manufacturing.
- Experience using precision measuring tools to inspect machined components.
- Working knowledge of blueprint reading and engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Basic computer skills for entering, retrieving, and maintaining inspection records.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace, defense, medical, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
- Machine trades, machining, or manufacturing-related technical training.
- Experience with calibration requirements or measurement equipment control.
- Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines or reviewing CMM inspection results.
