Required for Physician Assistants (PA):
- Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Nebraska without restrictions
- Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) role at UroHealth Partners(UHP) provides clinical care to patients of the UHP in various settings, including acute care, and ambulatory clinics, as well as assisting in the operating room. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively with our Urology Physicians, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both healthy and ill patients in outpatient, acute care, and surgical settings. He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in Urology. He/she is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic urologic health needs. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant demonstrates an advanced level of medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. He/she works with administrative, nursing, physician, and radiology staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote UHP's patient care mission.
This position offers a salaried structure for the first year, with the potential to transition to a profit-sharing bonus model after 12 months of employment. LIMITATION:
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide care within his/her scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, and institutional policy and practice agreements.

CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE:
1. Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of genitourinary (GU) medical conditions.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of commonly prescribed GU medications, including antibiotics and hormone replacement, and is able to satisfactorily prescribe these medications in a clinically appropriate and responsible manner.
3. Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant, and appropriate for age, gender, and clinical problem.
4. Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
5. Develops implements, evaluates, and alters the plan of care as needed under the guidance of a supervising physician.
6. Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
7. Counsels and educates patients and families.
8. Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to Urology.
9. Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
10. Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
11. Communicates diagnostic study results to patients or assists in mediation with physicians to communicate results to patients when needed.
HOSPITAL SUPPORT - SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
1. Provide urology consultative services as requested at various facilities.
2. Establish presumptive diagnosis and establish the general workup of the patient.
3. Round on hospital patients as directed.
SURGICAL SUPPORT:
1. Assist Urology Surgeons as requested with surgical procedures
2. Complete Pre-Op and Post-Operative orders.
3. Assist Urology Surgeons and Surgery Scheduling Department with Coordinating OR times when needed.
4. Assist with patient positioning and preparation prior to surgery as needed.
5. Consults and collaborates with Urological Surgeons when ordering diagnostic and surgical procedures.
6. Perform Testosterone Pellet implantation procedures, cystoscopy/stent removals, shockwave ED treatments, local nerve blocks, and minor skin procedures.
PATIENT CARE:
1. Provides care that is patient and family-centered, compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of GU disease throughout the lifespan.
