Overview

We are seeking full-time and part-time, qualified and reliable Protective Agents to patrol multiple hospital and clinic sites within an assigned area to ensure the safety of staff, patients, visitors, and property. Protective Agents are required to respond to any incidents or emergencies that may occur and report them to the appropriate authorities. This position will carry a weapon and use it only when necessary and in accordance with the law and company policies. An ideal Armed Protective Agent is very disciplined, and discreet, with strong situational awareness, communication skills, excellent judgment under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to client safety.
To operate as a Protective Agent in the state of Washington, you MUST obtain a valid armed security license from the Department of Licensing. The licensing requirements include being at least 21 years old, having a current firearms certificate, passing a background check, and paying the application fee. You must also work for a licensed security guard company and follow the laws and rules for security guards.

Essential Functions:
- Patrol multiple hospital and clinic sites within an assigned area and monitor for any suspicious or unauthorized activities, persons, or vehicles
- Check and secure doors, windows, gates, and other access points
- Enforce the rules and regulations of the hospital and clinic sites and prevent any violations or disturbances
- Assist staff, patients, and visitors with any security-related issues or requests
- Respond to any alarms, incidents, or emergencies that may occur and provide assistance or backup as needed
- Use your weapon only when necessary and in accordance with the law and company policies
- Report any incidents or issues to the supervisor and the appropriate authorities
- Maintain a log of your activities and observations
- Maintain your weapon and other equipment in good condition and report any malfunctions or damages
- Attend regular training and meetings to update your skills and knowledge
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid armed security license in the state of Washington or able to obtain prior to start
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- CPR and first aid certification
- Knowledge of security procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of the hospital and clinic sites and their surroundings
- Ability to use a weapon and other security equipment safely and effectively
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, patients, visitors, and authorities
- Ability to observe and report any suspicious or unusual activities or situations
- Ability to make sound judgments and decisions in stressful or emergency situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform the duties of the job
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of experience in security or law enforcement
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for clean criminal background check, drug test and vaccinations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training in de-escalation tactics, conflict resolution or crisis intervention
- Prior work in a hospital environment
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- May be exposed to stressful or emergency situations involving injured, distressed, or combative individuals.
- Requires frequent interaction with staff, visitors, and the public.
- May involve exposure to biohazardous substances; strict compliance with safety and protective measures is required.
- Work schedules may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended or rotating shifts depending on operational needs.
- May involve standing or walking for long periods while conducting patrols.
- May be required to respond quickly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies throughout the facility.
- Ability to stand, walk, or remain on foot for extended periods (8–12 hours).
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, or reach as needed during inspections or incident response.
- Must be able to remain alert, focused, and responsive throughout the shift.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Part-time and full-time options
- Working hours may vary depending on the schedule and needs of the hospital and clinic sites. Full-time Protective Agents will work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime.
- The North Group will make every effort to accommodate scheduling preferences and availability; however, this position requires flexibility and the ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The North Group provides all equipment necessary for this role, including a weapon, ammunition, holster, belt, vest, radio, earpiece, flashlight, and other accessories. A set of professional, comfortable uniforms is also provided. Employees are responsible for maintaining their equipment and uniforms in good condition and reporting any issues or damage to their supervisor.
- Protective Agents receive ongoing training and support from our training manager and experienced instructors. This includes regular range sessions and weapons qualifications to maintain firearms proficiency and safety, as well as instruction on the use of essential communication equipment and systems. Our training program ensures agents remain prepared, confident, and capable of handling any situation that may arise.
