JOB SUMMARY
This is a professional truck driver position working Sunday - Thursday that involves over the road and tight farm maneuvering driving skills. Most runs are within a 150-mile radius of the Lititz, PA based facility although occasional overnight runs may be required. Starting and completion times for runs will vary on a weekly and daily basis with several days’ notice provided in most cases. Trailers involve hydraulics and lift gates which the driver is expected to operate in farm environments while assisting with cart loading / unloading. The appearance of equipment and positive interactions with customers is important to the Risser’s Poultry brand and drivers are expected to represent their company accordingly. Safety, both on the road and on the farm, is of paramount importance in all cases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Risser’s Poultry Truck Drivers must meet the following qualifications at the point of hire for this position and must maintain those qualifications while functioning in the Truck Driver position
1.1 Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Commercial Driver’s License for the classification of vehicle being driven and the driver’s license must be issued by the state of residence. Any age exceptions based on extenuating circumstances must be approved by the Transportation Manager.
1.2 Must have a minimum of one year of verifiable over-the-road driving experience within the last three years for the classification of vehicle being driven. Any experience exceptions based on extenuating circumstances must be approved by the Operations Manager.
1.3 Must have a clean driving record with no suspensions, serious tickets, or chargeable accidents in the past three (3) years.
1.4 Must have a permanent home address and have telephone access where you can easily be contacted.
1.5 Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical Examination and Drug Screen.
1.6 Must be able to pass a road test including road driving, hooking, unhooking, pre-trip, parking, and backing.
1.7 Must be completely familiar with all State and Federal rules and regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles.
1.8 Must be available for occasional overnight trips and varied starting hours based on weekly schedule requirements.
