Preston's Kia is seeking an experienced and results-driven Used Car Director to lead and grow our pre-owned vehicle department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inventory acquisition, vehicle appraisals, pricing strategy, inventory management, and overall department profitability.
This leadership role requires a strong understanding of the automotive market, proven appraisal skills, and the ability to make data-driven decisions that maximize inventory turn and gross profit while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Source and acquire quality pre-owned inventory through trade-ins, auctions, and direct purchases
- Accurately appraise vehicles and determine market value
- Develop and execute pricing strategies based on current market conditions
- Manage inventory levels, aging, and turn rates
- Monitor vehicle merchandising, online listings, and market competitiveness
- Work closely with Sales, Service, and Finance departments to optimize operations
- Oversee reconditioning processes and control associated costs
- Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for growth and profitability
- Ensure compliance with all dealership policies and industry regulations
- Build and maintain relationships with auction representatives, vendors, and customers
QualificationsRequired:
- Minimum 3 years of automotive management experience
- Strong vehicle appraisal and inventory acquisition experience
- Knowledge of auction platforms and used vehicle market trends
- Proven track record of increasing profitability and inventory turn
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic business decisions
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Used Car Manager, Pre-Owned Director, Inventory Manager, or similar leadership role
- Experience with vAuto, DealerSocket, VinSolutions, or comparable automotive software
Pay: $52,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
