Job Summary: The Rock Island, Henry and Mercer County (RIHM) Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program’s Advocate Specialist’s primary responsibility is to ensure ongoing daily support and supervision for assigned Volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). The Advocate Specialist coaches and supports assigned CASA Volunteers to ensure the highest quality of services and adherence to all established funder and affiliated expectations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required to meet the overall mission and goals of EveryChild.
Work Site: Primary – EveryChild, 420 23rd Street Rock Island, IL. Alternate sites: Throughout Rock Island County as warranted. Supervisor: CASA Program Director Specific Duties:
· Support RIHM CASA Programming’s efforts to ensure for the effective best practice informed CASA service provision.
· Supports RIHM CASA Volunteer recruitment and retention efforts.
· Supports Program efforts to effectively train RIHM CASA Volunteers through efforts such as but not limited to facilitation, development and organization.
· Acts as the Primary Supervisor for assigned RIHM CASA Volunteers which includes efforts such as but not limited to ensuring for adherence to the CASA Mission, training and established program standards, completion of required documentation and reporting, and supporting their general efficacy within the role of CASA.
· Support the facilitation and planning of monthly Volunteer training opportunities.
· Attend Court Hearings and Meetings associated with cases assigned to you and/ or your assigned Volunteers as required and be familiar with the juvenile adoption legal process.
· Effectively serve as a EveryChild and RIHM CASA representative throughout our community to include attending and participating within various community events or organizations.
· Be trained and serve as a CASA as needed/ warranted.
· Effectively collaborate with RIHM CASA Partners and Stakeholders toward effective service provision for assigned children/ cases.
· Cultivate and maintain strong and effective professional relationships with vested parties.
· Participate in required Professional Development, Meetings, and Conferences for National CASA and Illinois CASA.
· Ensure for personal and assigned Volunteer data entry and record keeping compliance.
· Act as a Mandated Reporter
General Duties:
· Maintain personnel records (i.e., Time Sheet and Mileage expense reports).
· Attend all EveryChild staff meetings.
· Assist in general EveryChild planning, public activities, and fundraising as appropriate.
· Participate in external and internal committees as appropriate.
· Embrace and execute all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in human services, law enforcement or related field required, or have three years of equivalent, professionally relevant experience.
· Previous experience within a CASA program is preferred.
· Experience within a Not-For-Profit or public service agency.
· Experience supervising/ managing employees and/ or volunteers is preferred.
· Knowledge regarding and understanding of child abuse/neglect dynamics, familial challenges, child development and other social service skills.
· Working knowledge of community resources and ability to effectively work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Exhibits/ adheres to Professional boundaries and ethics.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficient use with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Must be able to drive and have consistent access to reliable available transportation.
· Bilingual a plus, but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
· Salary: $40,000, depending on experience
