Medical Assistant - Omaha Area Clinics - Nebraska Methodist Health System
Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support our providers in delivering high-quality patient care. In this vital role, you'll assist physicians with daily clinical tasks including preparing patients for examinations, performing phlebotomy and injections, entering medication, laboratory, and radiology orders, scheduling diagnostic tests, and managing patient communications. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Joint (Floor and Phone)
- Patient Tracking & Scheduling: Documents and follows up on labs, procedures, and appointments; assists Health Coaches with patient lists and scheduling.
- Patient Education & Community Support: Educates patients and families per provider instructions and recommends appropriate community resources.
- Telephone Triage & Communication: Handles phone triage, reports patient conditions to providers, and returns calls within medical priority timelines.
- Work Area Maintenance & Prescription Management: Maintains clean work areas, handles prescription renewals, and communicates with pharmacies based on provider instructions.
- Clinical Preparation & Assistance: Prepares exam rooms, assists with patient exams, performs phlebotomy, and ensures accurate documentation and order entry.
Phone
- Call & Message Management: Answers and returns phone calls and messages according to protocol, maintaining a 98% accuracy rate.
- Test Results & Pharmacy Refills: Provides test results to patients and processes pharmacy refill requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Pharmacy Communication: Completes pharmacy refill requests 100% accurately.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm // 7:45am - 4:45pm

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
Methodist Physicians Clinic - Methodist HealthWest, 16120 W Dodge Rd. - Omaha, NE
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30AM - 5PM
Salary:
- Pay starts at $20.39 an hour and may increase based on work history/experience.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
- Successful completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Program must include an externship/preceptorship in a clinical setting OR must have 6 months of current experience working in the capacity of a medical assistant.
- OR
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program with half of nursing courses completed.
- Transcripts must be provided indicating classes have been passed.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Medication Aide Registry (MAR or MAR.40) required within 2 months of hire date.
