Position Summary
The Retail Operations Associate (ROA) is a cross‑functional, compliance‑driven role responsible for front‑of‑house customer service, secure product handling, inventory accuracy, and day‑to‑day operational execution. The ROA model consolidates budtending, security/reception, and inventory support into a single accountable position to ensure efficiency, regulatory compliance, and an excellent customer experience.
This role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to rotate between assigned stations based on operational needs.

Greet and verify customers in compliance with NJ CRC requirements

Provide knowledgeable product guidance and responsible cannabis education

Accurately process transactions using POS systems

Promote accessories, promotions, and loyalty programs

Maintain professional, courteous, and efficient service at all times

Verify and scan government‑issued IDs per state regulations

Monitor entry/exit points and customer flow
-
Enforce age restrictions, purchase limits, and store policies
-
Maintain awareness of suspicious activity and escalate as required

Follow all NJ CRC, local, and internal security protocols

Pull, stage, and package products for in‑store and online orders
-
Maintain accurate inventory counts and lot/expiration tracking
-
Assist with receiving deliveries and manifest verification
-
Label, store, and secure products per METRC and CRC standards
-
Report discrepancies, damages, or expirations immediately
-
Rotate between budtending, inventory, and security stations as assigned
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of sales floor, vault, and work areas

Follow SOPs for opening, closing, cash handling, and reconciliation

Support marketing initiatives, vendor days, and promotions
-
Complete required trainings and ongoing education

Accuracy in cash handling and inventory management

Consistent compliance with all regulatory requirements

Punctuality, reliable attendance, and schedule adherence

Strong customer engagement and sales performance

Professional communication with customers and team members

Must be 21 years of age or older

Ability to obtain and maintain NJ CRC employee badge

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs

Comfort working in a regulated, security‑focused environment

Prior dispensary, retail, hospitality, or inventory experience

Familiarity with POS systems and METRC

Knowledge of cannabis products and consumption methods

Multitasking ability in a fast‑paced environment

Hourly position; base rate determined by experience and assigned tier

Tip‑eligible when performing ROA‑designated duties

Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Shift length and station assignment based on business needs
-
Adherence to dress code and appearance standards

Compliance with all SOPs, policies, and safety requirements

Willingness to rotate duties and accept station assignments
-
Accountability for assigned tasks and operational outcomes
