Kitchen Leadership Opportunity
Urban Lodge Brewing Company is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our leadership team in Hartford.
As Kitchen Manager, you’ll work closely with our Executive Chef while serving as the primary kitchen leader whenever he is supporting the other locations. You’ll have the autonomy to lead your team, maintain our culinary standards, and help shape the continued success of our kitchen.
This role offers far more responsibility than a traditional Kitchen Manager position. You’ll play a key role in leading daily operations, mentoring your team, driving operational excellence, and ensuring every guest receives an outstanding dining experience.

Position Overview
Working alongside the Executive Chef, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the Hartford kitchen while ensuring exceptional food quality, operational efficiency, and a positive team culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all day-to-day kitchen operations
- Serving as the primary kitchen leader whenever the Executive Chef is supporting our other location.
- Hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing kitchen staff
- Creating weekly schedules that balance labor goals with business needs
- Managing food cost and labor cost targets while maintaining quality and consistency
- Leading service during high-volume shifts with confidence and professionalism
- Collaborating with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Executive Chef, and Event Manager to execute daily service, events, and specials
- Planning and executing daily food specials while encouraging creativity and cost awareness
- Maintaining exceptional standards for cleanliness, organization, food safety, and health code compliance
- Building a positive, accountable, and team-oriented kitchen culture
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and overall kitchen performance
Qualifications
- We’re looking for a leader who brings both culinary expertise and strong management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Three or more years of kitchen leadership or culinary management experience
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, scheduling, inventory, ordering, food cost, and labor management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for hospitality and delivering an exceptional guest experience
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
