Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medical Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing advanced nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including SPECT scans and Cardiac PET scans, to assist in diagnostic evaluations. This role requires a strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to ensure accurate imaging and patient care. The Nuclear Medical Technician will work closely with physicians to provide precise diagnostic images that support effective treatment planning. Candidates must adhere to strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols to maintain a sterile environment and ensure patient safety.
Duties
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures, explaining the process and ensuring their comfort.
- Operate specialized imaging equipment such as PET scanners and SPECT machines with precision.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals following proper aseptic techniques and safety guidelines.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations by capturing high-quality images of the body's internal structures.
- Analyze physiological data and assist physicians in interpreting imaging results related to nuclear medicine procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed, patient information, and imaging results.
- Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and cleaned according to hospital standards.
- Follow infection control protocols and uphold safety standards during all procedures.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and nuclear medicine practices through ongoing education.
Qualifications
- Certification or licensure as a Nuclear Medical Technician or equivalent credential.
- Experience with medical imaging modalities such as PET scans and SPECT scans is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to nuclear medicine.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control procedures in a clinical setting.
- Understanding of diagnostic evaluation processes within nuclear medicine practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to operate complex imaging equipment accurately.
- Good communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality care.
