PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To assist one or more teachers in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.

Work under the supervision of certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

High School Diploma/GED
-
Texas Educational Aide Certificate
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
-
Ability to work well with children and exhibit effective working relationships with staff and school community

Ability to communicate effectively.

Some experience working with children preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
-
Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.

Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current.
-
Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc.

Escort children to and from various rooms.
-
Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students at teacher's request.

Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes the lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems concerning individual students.

Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
-
Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.

Help maintain discipline and other non-instructional functions.
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.

Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher.

Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.
