Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) – Hospice

Medvista Healthcare is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) to lead our hospice clinical team.
The DPCS is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, supervising and supporting clinical staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring that patients receive high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered hospice care.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of all hospice clinical operations.
- Supervise, support, and manage nursing staff and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Ensure clinical services are provided in accordance with hospice standards, organizational policies, Medicare requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Oversee patient plans of care and ensure services are coordinated according to each patient’s individual needs.
- Review clinical documentation and ensure medical records are complete, accurate, compliant, and timely.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, HIPAA requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice aides, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in staffing, scheduling, clinical resource planning, and clinical workflow management.
- Provide education, training, coaching, and ongoing support to clinical staff.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure clinical personnel meet competency and performance expectations.
- Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Assist with surveys, audits, regulatory reviews, and corrective action plans as needed.
- Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment focused on excellent patient and family care.
Qualifications
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing required.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of hospice clinical experience required.
- Hospice management, supervisory, or clinical leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated experience supervising nursing staff and/or multidisciplinary hospice teams.
- Strong working knowledge of hospice operations and Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation.
- Strong knowledge of clinical documentation, plans of care, interdisciplinary care coordination, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience overseeing clinical staff, patient care services, staffing, and clinical operations.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to provide guidance, accountability, and support to clinical staff.
