We are growing our operations and with that in mind we are seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Shop Foreman to oversee the day-to-day operations of our valve shop. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent mechanical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to keep technicians productive while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The Shop Foreman will coordinate workflow, support and supervise technicians, troubleshoot difficult repairs, monitor job progress, and help ensure work is completed correctly and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support technicians and shop personnel throughout the workday
- Assign jobs and manage shop workflow based on technician skill level, workload, and priority
- Monitor repair progress and help ensure jobs are completed accurately and efficiently
- Diagnose and assist with complex mechanical or technical issues
- Inspect completed work for quality and proper workmanship
- Ensure technicians follow company procedures, safety policies, and industry best practices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
- Communicate with service advisors, management, parts personnel, and technicians regarding repair status and job requirements
- Help identify additional repairs or maintenance needs when appropriate
- Minimize comebacks by maintaining strong quality-control standards
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of technicians
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, attendance, and overall performance
- Help maintain shop equipment and ensure tools and equipment are used properly
- Assist management with scheduling, staffing, and resolving day-to-day shop issues
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, team-oriented work environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Valve Technician, Shop Supervisor, or similar position preferred
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic knowledge
- Proven ability to lead and motivate technicians
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on technician or mechanical experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Relevant industry certifications
- Experience with diagnostic equipment and shop management systems
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and repair procedures
