Job Description:
Survey Aide
T. Baker Smith is seeking motivated Survey Aides to join our teams and work under the direction of the Party Chief to complete the crew’s assigned field survey projects.
Your Opportunity:
- Assist in operating necessary survey instruments to fulfill project requirements.
- Assist in compiling notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained.
- Gather necessary equipment and supplies to fulfill project requirements.
- Review project requirements with the party chief.
- Participate in daily job safety analysis.
- Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings.
- Communicate with field operations lead on daily crew assignments.
- Complete safety observation report as required.
- Report incidents to the appropriate personnel.
- Complete incident report as required.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients in the field.
- Perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor work conditions and responsibly use stop work authority.
- Assist in scheduling routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Identify and report any equipment failure on work order maintenance form.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk long distances while carrying equipment, sometimes through rugged terrain, mud, or swamp; drive and/or ride in a boat; sit; balance, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate equipment; talk and hear; Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Highschool diploma OR its equivalent.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is generally outdoors and is exposed to the weather. Associates ride in a boat and is frequently exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present in such situations. Nights away from home are required.

Position Purpose
Primarily responsible for assisting and accomplishing field survey requests of the project as directed by
the Party Chief.
Accountability Chart Responsibilities
• Understands overall project needs
• Collects specific field data
• Compiles field notes
• Completes daily JSA’s.
• Performs work in a safe and efficient manner
• Communicates professionally with clients in the field
• HSE key performance measures (kpm) targets, schedule, and man-hour adherence
Essential Functions
