About Floor Authority
Floor Authority is a multi-market flooring company serving production builders, custom builders, commercial clients, and retail customers across the Southeast. We handle the full scope — from estimating and material sourcing to installation and warranty — with our own field teams, warehouses, and showrooms. We build our own technology to run the business, and we’re investing in the people, processes, and structure to support the next stage of growth. If you want to be part of a company that’s building something, not just maintaining it, this is the place.
Role Purpose
The Contractor Sales Associate is the front line of Floor Authority’s Pro Club business in Myrtle Beach — the person contractors call first and trust to have their materials ready. This role owns the contractor relationship end to end: bringing on new contractor accounts, managing and fulfilling their orders, upselling the tools and materials that make a job go smoothly, and keeping the Pro Club area and its warehouse stock organized and ready to sell. It blends sales hustle with warehouse execution — equal parts relationship-builder and operator.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Contractor Relationships & New Business
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Pro Club contractor accounts, building relationships that keep contractors ordering from Floor Authority first.
- Prospect and recruit new contractor customers through cold calling, jobsite visits, and referrals to grow the Pro Club account base.
- Quote contractor jobs accurately, including the trims and setting materials the job needs.
- Upsell tools, accessories, and complementary materials (including Schluter Systems and related trims and adhesives) on every order to increase ticket size.
- Follow up on open quotes and quiet accounts rather than waiting for the contractor to call.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date contractor account and order records in FloorCore.
Orders & Fulfillment
- Write contractor orders in FloorCore accurately the first time — right product, right quantity, right price, right pickup or delivery date.
- Pull, stage, and label contractor orders ahead of the promised pickup time so material is ready when the truck arrives.
- Verify every order against the pick ticket and load contractor vehicles safely.
- Communicate backorders and ETA changes before the contractor discovers the problem on the jobsite.
- Process returns, exchanges, and credits according to company policy and record them in FloorCore.
Pro Club Inventory & Warehouse Readiness
- Keep Pro Club and counter stock at levels that support walk-in and same-day demand; flag reorders before an item runs out.
- Receive incoming Pro Club material, verify it against the packing slip, and put it away in the correct location.
- Keep tools, accessories, sundries, and Schluter inventory stocked, priced, and easy to shop.
- Participate in cycle counts and resolve count discrepancies rather than working around them.
Facility & Presentation
- Keep the Pro Club area and its section of the warehouse clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
- Maintain a professional, put-together appearance — this role represents Floor Authority to every contractor who walks in.
Travel & Work Schedule
- Full-time position based in Myrtle Beach, SC, Monday–Friday, standard business hours.
- Occasional early starts or extended hours to accommodate contractor pickups and deliveries.
- Local travel for cold calling and jobsite relationship-building as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- 1–2 years of sales experience — counter sales, inside sales, or building materials preferred.
- Working knowledge of flooring products and installation systems, including Schluter Systems.
- Comfortable cold calling and prospecting for new business — this role is measured on growing the contractor base, not just servicing it.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially around order accuracy and inventory.
- Self-motivated go-getter with a strong work ethic — comfortable balancing counter sales, order fulfillment, and outbound prospecting in the same day.
- Comfortable with basic computer tasks and learning FloorCore (training provided).
- Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
Working Conditions
- Split time between the Pro Club counter, the showroom floor, the warehouse, and the road.
- Physically active role: standing and walking throughout the day, with regular lifting, carrying, and loading — able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, with assistance or equipment for heavier flooring and tile.
- Warehouse environment: seasonal temperature variation, dust, and forklift traffic.
Company Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus commission
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement savings plan
- Paid time off and holidays
- Professional development opportunities
