Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our mental health team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to providing comprehensive psychiatric care tailored to children and adolescents, with expertise in managing complex mental health conditions. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Manage medication regimens with careful attention to efficacy, side effects, and patient safety.
- Provide counseling and support for individuals with co-occurring disorders, including substance use issues.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems effectively to document patient progress and coordinate care.
- Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other specialists to deliver holistic treatment.
- Offer specialized counseling addressing gender identity issues and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or ADHD.
- Engage in addiction counseling when necessary, supporting recovery efforts alongside families and caregivers.
- Incorporate art therapy techniques as part of comprehensive treatment strategies when appropriate.
- Stay current with advances in psychopharmacology and mental health practices through ongoing professional development.
Skills
- Extensive experience in psychiatric patient care for children and adolescents with diverse mental health needs.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing co-occurring disorders, including substance use and mental health conditions.
- Proficiency in managing electronic health records (EHR) systems for accurate documentation and seamless communication within healthcare teams.
- Strong background in addiction counseling tailored specifically for youth populations.
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities to develop tailored intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of art therapy techniques that enhance emotional expression and therapeutic engagement.
- Expertise in psychopharmacology to prescribe and monitor medications safely and effectively.
- Ability to address gender issues counseling sensitively within a diverse patient population.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the state where the position is located.
- Current DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled substances, as required.
- Current professional liability/malpractice coverage or ability to obtain coverage.
- Experience evaluating and treating children and adolescents with psychiatric, behavioral, and emotional disorders.
- Ability to perform psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, and manage psychotropic medications.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship
- Experience in residential treatment, inpatient psychiatry, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient behavioral health.
- Experience treating adolescents with complex behavioral health needs.
- Experience with trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance-use disorders, and behavioral dysregulation.
- Experience providing family consultation and coordinating treatment with schools and community providers.
- Experience with evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches.
