Program Specialist 2 for the Wellness and Movement Sciences Department
. This position is a classified position to begin as soon as possible and is a part-time (50% FTE), 12-month position. The individual selected for this position will work on-site and actively contribute to a collaborative and collegial office environment
The Program Specialist 2 for the Wellness and Movement Sciences programs (WAMS) is responsible for coordinating program services and resources for multiple programs including undergraduate programs in Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, Lifestyle Medicine, and Recreation Management, as well as graduate programs in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. The WAMS department also houses minors in Coaching, Emergency Medical Services, Experiential Training and Development, Gero kinesiology, Sport Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. The Program Specialist 2 position oversees day-to-day program operations and resolves problems within assigned scope of authority. Additionally, the Program Specialist 2 plans, organizes, and coordinates operations of the programs within the Department as delegated by the department chair.
The Program Specialist 2 position requires performance of tasks and application of knowledge unique to the aforementioned programs. The supervisor for this position is the department chair of WAMS.

The salary for this position is $23,418 (minimum) up to $26,976 (maximum). Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on qualifications, education, experience, and skills.

- Bachelor's Degree - additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
- At least two years of administrative or managerial experience, including responsibilities for program operations.
- Responsibility for program operations beyond entry-level work, including developing, overseeing, organizing, implementing, evaluating outcomes, and modifying tasks.
- Experience in and demonstrated ability to provide support to multiple individuals with overlapping needs and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills (written skills will be evaluated based on the submitted application materials).
- Work experience demonstrating strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships both within and external to the department.
- Demonstrated competency in computer skills including utilization of MS Office applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, records maintenance, - with a willingness to learn platforms and applications as they emerge such as Google Drive and Adobe Suite
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is sensitive to the diverse needs of the students, faculty, administrators, and external partners as well as the requirements of the WAMS department, Eastern Washington University, and/or the State of Washington.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who offer experience in one or more of the following:
- Engagement and understanding of the undergraduate and graduate programs within Wellness and Movement Sciences.
- University software programs such as Navigate, CLSS, Banner, Concur, Tableau, Watermark Insights, WordPress.
- Demonstrated experience at the use of social media platforms to promote and advance programs and/or initiatives

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day program operations:
- Provide information, resolve problems, and respond to a wide variety of inquiries from students, their families, faculty, staff, and external community.
- Provide support to departmental faculty.
- Provide clerical support for activities and initiatives of the WAMS programs, this includes preparing paperwork for groups to participates in events, prepare purchase orders (IDPO) and maintain TouchNET. Provide reports from Watermark for faculty course evaluations to be used by the Department Chair.
- Maintain copy machine including allocation of charges and leasing information. Complete online journal voucher to charge individual indexes.
- Order and maintain office supplies, including budget authority for supplies and monitoring expenditures.
- Maintain inventory reports.
- Issue keys to for departmental areas in WAMS, including but not limited to faculty, staff, and graduate assistants.
- Plan, organize and participate in department special events, such as but not limited to, orientation activities, commencement and graduation celebrations, and department recognition events.
- Each quarter, coordinate office hours for faculty and gather all course syllabi for the department records.
- Oversee scheduling of departmental conference room.
- Provide Foundation donor letters and monitor donation gifts.

- Record and maintain departmental meeting minutes, if required.

Serve as a program liaison to students, faculty, staff, community members, alumni, etc:
- Serve as first point of contact for, and provide appropriate information to, students, faculty, staff, community partners, alumni, etc.
- Process overrides for students and assists them with registering in Banner, EagleNet, and other programs to resolve their problems.
- Triage students who need advising assistance.
- Answer questions regarding grading issues or problems.
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair that are within the scope of the position.

Assist the coordination and monitoring of program and course information for programs in WAMS:
- Serve as first point of contact for programs in the WAMS department.
- Enter course information into Course Leaf Section Scheduler (CLSS) program provided by the department chair.
- Submit course and program changes in Course/Program Information Management (CIM/PIM) system as directed by the department chair.
- Under the direction of the department chair, update/edit the Course Catalog, website, and program curriculum guides to reflect changes in programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair that are within the scope of the position.

Marketing:
- Monitor and order materials and products for marketing the department and programs.
- Create flyers, curriculum guides, award certificates, and various other materials for programs.
- Maintain WAMS department websites.
- Market and promote department and program events using established university channels and resources such as social media sites, the EWU Digital Board system, and MarCom.

- Provide clerical support to academic program directors for accreditation activities such as organizing accreditation reports, self-study, and site visits
