Position Summary
We are actively seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tube Mill Operator with a background in TIG welding stainless steel, metallurgy, and metal forming. The ideal candidate will possess experience in stainless steel or low carbon tube mill operations, coupled with a strong mechanical aptitude, as we consider adding additional shifts to our operation — 2nd & 3rd shift opportunities available. We are looking for individuals who are committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in our production processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate stainless steel and/or low carbon tube mill equipment including uncoilers, forming mills, TIG weld boxes, sizing stations, and cut-off equipment
- Monitor and adjust the TIG welding process to ensure consistent weld quality, bead integrity, and proper fusion on stainless steel and low carbon material
- Apply knowledge of metallurgy and material properties to make informed adjustments during forming and welding operations
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to produce tubing to correct dimensions, material grades, and customer specifications
- Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify OD, wall thickness, weld integrity, and surface finish
- Adjust mill tooling, guides, and rolls to maintain dimensional tolerances and achieve proper tube formation
- Execute changeovers between tube sizes and material grades efficiently and accurately
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, defective material, or quality concerns to supervision in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate production records including footage, downtime, scrap, and material certifications as required
- Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with 5S standards
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in welding, metallurgy, or metal forming a plus
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in stainless steel or low carbon tube mill operations strongly preferred
- Hands-on TIG welding experience with stainless steel required; knowledge of weld parameters, shielding gas, and heat input effects on stainless material
- Working knowledge of metallurgy as it relates to stainless steel and low carbon steel forming and welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and material certifications
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to make tooling and setup adjustments independently
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift; overtime and weekend availability required

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
