Position Summary
The Grounds & Facility Maintenance Lead supports the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the overall appearance, functionality, and safety of MW Metals Group's facilities and properties. This position serves as a working lead responsible for performing and coordinating general building maintenance, groundskeeping, property upkeep, and facility improvement projects.
The Grounds & Facility Maintenance Lead performs hands-on maintenance while assisting with prioritizing daily work, coordinating repairs, and ensuring company buildings, grounds, parking areas, and operational spaces remain clean, safe, and well maintained. This role requires a self-motivated individual who enjoys a variety of maintenance tasks and takes pride in maintaining a professional facility.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in coordinating daily facility and grounds maintenance activities.
· Perform general building maintenance including minor carpentry, painting, drywall repair, door and window repairs, flooring repairs, lighting replacement, and basic plumbing repairs.
· Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of company buildings, warehouses, offices, and surrounding property.
· Perform routine inspections of facilities and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
· Complete preventative maintenance on buildings, grounds, and facility infrastructure.
· Maintain parking lots, sidewalks, fencing, gates, landscaping, and outdoor common areas.
· Assist with setting up workspaces, offices, breakrooms, storage areas, and facility improvements.
· Coordinate general repairs with outside contractors and assist with vendor oversight when necessary.
· Perform basic repairs to facility fixtures, shelving, racking, fencing, and other property assets.
· Operate company equipment including forklifts, skid steers, utility vehicles, and other grounds maintenance equipment as trained.
· Monitor facility lighting, HVAC issues, plumbing concerns, and report larger repair needs.
· Maintain maintenance inventory including building supplies, tools, cleaning materials, and seasonal equipment.
· Ensure maintenance shops, storage rooms, and work areas remain organized and safe.
· Respond to facility maintenance requests in a timely manner.
· Promote compliance with OSHA requirements, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
· Identify opportunities to improve facility appearance, organization, and operational efficiency.
· Participate in emergency facility repairs during weather events, equipment failures, or other operational needs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Skill Requirements
· Strong general maintenance and repair skills.
· Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and building maintenance.
· Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and maintenance equipment.
· Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or similar equipment preferred.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
· Self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean, professional facility.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Three or more years of experience in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, property maintenance, commercial building maintenance, or related field preferred.
· Experience with industrial or manufacturing facilities is preferred.
· Previous lead maintenance experience is a plus.
· Experience operating maintenance equipment preferred.
· HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or trade certifications are beneficial but not required.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, and work throughout the day.
· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and powered tools.
· Ability to work around industrial equipment and active operational areas.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Must be available to respond to urgent facility maintenance needs when necessary
Pay: $24.50 - $25.50 per hour
