Job Summary
First United Methodist Preschool is a 5-day preschool that operates from August through May. We are looking for a Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our faith filled play-based early childhood education team. At First United Methodist Preschool, we are proud to offer a rich, play-based learning experience rooted in developmentally appropriate practices while also helping children grow in God's love. Our school fosters exploration, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking for children ages 12 months to 6 years. Each week, our teachers collaborate closely with a curriculum coordinator to thoughtfully plan lessons that include Bible stories, engaging circle times, small group and one-on-one learning, and a variety of gross motor and fine motor enrichments. Our goal is to nurture the whole child; academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually, through intentional and joyful learning experiences.
In this role, you will assist in classroom activities, engaging in curricula, and foster a safe, inclusive environment for children to explore, learn, and grow. Your expertise in childhood development and early education will be vital in creating a positive foundation for each child's future success.
Duties
- Implement developmentally appropriate play-based activities, including literacy education, math, gross motor, and cognitive development.
- Assist in daily classroom activities with enthusiasm, ensuring a stimulating environment that promotes social-emotional growth and learning.
- Create a safe, loving, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
- Collaborate with families to communicate children's progress, address individual needs, and support early intervention strategies when necessary.
Skills
- Experience working with children in preschool or child care settings, with a strong background in childhood development and early childhood education.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to manage classroom routines efficiently while fostering a nurturing environment that supports the whole child.
