Home Improvement Specialist (General Helper / Apprentice Role)
We’re a small, locally owned home improvement business based in Akron, OH, serving residential clients throughout Northeast Ohio. Our work covers a wide variety of tasks depending on the season and the project - landscaping, gardening, and yard work, along with painting, masonry, drainage, remodeling, light carpentry, handyman work, and general property improvement.
We’re looking for reliable, motivated people who want to grow with the business, gain experience, and build useful trade skills over time. This role can be a good fit for someone starting out, someone with some basic experience, or someone who just likes hands-on work and wants to become more capable.
What You’ll Do
Assist with a variety of general tasks - every week looks a little different
Help maintain garden beds, lawns, and outdoor spaces
Load, unload, move, and organize tools, soil, materials, and equipment
Support painting, masonry, construction, handyman, and property improvement projects based on skill, interest, and business needs
Learn on the job and build practical skills over time
Safely use tools and equipment under guidance

What We’re Looking For
Reliable and shows up on time
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Mindful of the situation/work at hand and looks for ways to help
Comfortable with physical labor: lifting 50+ lbs, kneeling, squatting, digging, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in different weather
Has reliable transportation - we are based in Akron but travel throughout Northeast Ohio
Bonus if you have any experience with gardening, landscaping, horticulture, construction, painting, handyman work, or general home improvement
Pay & Hours
Starting range is $16 - $20/hr depending on reliability, attitude, experience, and how quickly you learn
Part-time or full-time depending on fit and workload
Most work happens during mornings and afternoons on weekdays, with some weekend opportunities
