Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Classroom Aide to join our team for the 3-5 grade levels. The successful candidate will assist in creating a positive and effective learning environment, providing individualized support to students with special needs, and collaborating with teachers and other staff members to enhance the educational experience of our students.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring they understand and complete assignments.
- Adapt classroom materials and activities to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Help manage classroom behavior and implement positive behavior support strategies.
- Support students with personal care tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the educational and developmental needs of students with special needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of special education practices and individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic educational environment.
- Experience in a similar role is a plus but not required; we will help you obtain a teacher-aide license.
