Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Swiss CNC Machinist - Setup with an elite technical background and extensive machine setup expertise. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our production efficiency, taking complex multi-axis CNC Swiss machines from bare layout to proven part.
Duties
- Master Machine Setups: Lead the complete setup, alignment, and adjustment of multiple CNC Swiss machines
- Pre-Production Prove-Outs: Drive new product introductions and tooling changes by executing comprehensive pre-production runs and program prove-outs.
- Tooling Excellence: Pre-set, adjust, and replace advanced live tooling and specialized instruments to ensure maximum tooling life and accuracy.
- Code Optimization: Read, interpret, and confidently edit multi-axis Swiss G-Code and M-Code directly on the shop floor to improve process efficiency.
- Speed & Feed Management: Calculate and adjust machine feeds and speeds to maintain razor-thin tolerances across varied metallic compositions and exotic alloys.
- Quality & Data Collection: Inspect first-piece setups and collect continuous SPC data using CMM, Trimos, comparators, gauges, and high-level test instruments.
- Process Development: Partner directly with engineers, quality technicians, and supervisors to optimize machining processes and eliminate setup vulnerabilities.
- Mentorship & Training: Provide direct setup assistance, technical training, and troubleshooting support to other machine operators.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of dedicated CNC Swiss machining experience.
- Deep, proven capability in setting up and operating complex multi-axis Swiss machines.
- Absolute fluency in reading, interpreting, and modifying G & M Codes.
- Expert-level understanding of blueprint reading, layouts, job packets, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Competency using shop measurement tools (CMM, Trimos, comparators) and managing SPC data entry.
- Solid PC skills, including experience with manufacturing software and standard Microsoft Office products.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A 2-year trade school degree in Machining Technology or CNC Machining is highly preferred.
