We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Welding Crew Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding and fabrication, as well as leadership experience, with the ability to lead a crew effectively and ensure projects are completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and motivate welding crew members during day-to-day operations
- Assign tasks and monitor productivity, quality, and efficiency
- Conduct daily job huddles, toolbox talks, and work planning meetings
- Mentor and train junior welders and helpers
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards
- Ensure all crew members use proper PPE and follow safe work practices
- Participate in incident reporting and corrective actions
- Verify permits, hot work procedures, lockout/tagout, and confined space compliance when applicable
Welding Operations
- Perform and oversee MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding as required
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings
- Ensure correct weld procedures, parameters, and materials are used
- Coordinate setup of equipment, tools, and work areas
Quality Assurance
- Inspect welds for accuracy, defects, and code compliance
- Work with QC/QA to support inspections and testing (VT, UT, RT as applicable)
- Maintain welder continuity records and certifications
- Ensure rework and punch list items are completed promptly
Planning & Coordination
- Communicate with project managers, foremen, and clients as required
- Track crew hours, progress, and material usage
- Assist with scheduling, sequencing of work, and manpower planning
- Support equipment maintenance and inventory of welding tools/supplies
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete daily reports and jobsite documentation
- Maintain welding logs, inspection reports, and safety paperwork
- Report delays, issues, and change conditions to management
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in welding and fabrication, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural and/or pipe welding projects.
- Prior leadership experience as a lead, foreman, or senior welder
- Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and/or GTAW processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and drawings
- Knowledge of AWS/ASME welding standards
- Valid welding certifications (preferred but not always required
