New Jersey-based hospitality group is currently seeking a Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for all staff accountant administrative functions for three locations.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant is responsible for recording sales, reviewing vendor invoices and receiving items while entering and correcting them in the system as needed, therefore allowing for timely and accurate payment to suppliers. Handle incoming telephone inquiries from suppliers to resolve open issues. Review and manage open vendor statements. Post batches as necessary. Review New Hire paperwork and onboard employees into the payroll and time & attendance systems.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
· Review and enter daily Point of Sale (POS) reports into accounting system.
· Manage the full accounts payable cycle from receipt of invoices to payment; including coding invoices, obtaining approval, and entering invoices into the accounting system. Imaging and record retention of all accounts payable documents and vendor W-9s.
· Prepare batch check runs and ACH transactions.
· Reconcile and enter monthly Corporate Credit Card purchases.
· Manage vendor relations and build effective partnerships.
· Manage and enter employee New Hire paperwork into payroll and time & attendance systems.
· Address employee payroll questions and concerns in conjunction with management.
· Work with Controller to identify and implement process improvements.
· Receive, research and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / COMPENTENCY:
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Business Administration with 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience, preferred.
· Minimum 2-5 years of accounts payable experience. Experience with hospitality, including Food & Beverage, preferred.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong MS Office skills with advanced excel proficiency.
· Enhanced verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to keep information confidential.
· Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
· High numerical aptitude.
