Overview
Join our dynamic logistics team as a Dispatcher, where you'll play a vital role in coordinating and managing transportation operations to ensure seamless delivery and freight movement. As a Dispatcher, you will be the central hub for vehicle dispatching, route planning, and internal communication, driving the success of our transportation services while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and adjust plans proactively for efficiency.
- Manage freight shipments, shipping & receiving activities, and logistics documentation with precision through data entry and analysis skills.
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and internal policies during all dispatching activities.
- Maintain organized records of dispatch logs, incident reports, and shipment details using systems like Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Collaborate closely with supply chain teams to support transportation planning, fleet management, and 3PL (third-party logistics) coordination for smooth operations.
- Find candidates to lease on as owner operators
- Use load boards to find profitable loads
- Plan loads correctly to ensure cargo is delivered on time
- Deal with equipment breakdowns
Skills
- Proficiency in transportation management systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently across multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and internal communication techniques.
- Knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, road transportation operations, and logistics principles.
- Experience with shipping & receiving processes, freight management, and fleet management practices.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations to ensure safety and compliance during all transportation activities.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while utilizing Microsoft Office programs like Excel and Word for reporting purposes.
- Analysis skills to evaluate routing options, delivery schedules, and operational efficiencies effectively.
