Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in long-term private homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to resident rights and the ability to foster a nurturing atmosphere while assisting clients with daily activities. This role requires a blend of caregiving skills, social work understanding, and the ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support meal preparation and ensure nutritional needs are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for residents.
- Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Lift and transfer residents as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
- Drive residents to appointments or social outings when necessary.
- Document care provided and report any changes in resident conditions to the appropriate staff members.
- Uphold resident rights and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or assisted living environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate for clients effectively.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and assist residents in mobility tasks.
- A commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization within the living space.
- Understanding of basic caregiving systems and practices is beneficial.
