Responsibilities
- Lead engaging sailing lessons for individuals and groups on small Hobie boats, ensuring safety and skill development.
- Design and implement lesson plans tailored to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced sailors.
- Manage classroom environments both on and off the water, maintaining a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Provide clear instruction on sailing techniques, safety procedures, navigation rules, and boat handling.
- Monitor student progress, offering constructive feedback and encouragement to build confidence.
- Enforce safety protocols rigorously during all activities, including wearing appropriate gear and adhering to weather conditions.
- Maintain equipment by inspecting boats and gear regularly, reporting any repairs or issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching sailing or similar water sports, with a focus on small boat handling.
- Strong classroom management skills to effectively oversee both practical lessons and theoretical instruction.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey instructions and foster a supportive learning environment.
- Experience working with diverse age groups, including children and adults, with a patient and motivating approach.
- Knowledge of boating safety regulations, navigation principles, and emergency procedures related to small boat sailing.
- Prior experience in childcare or tutoring is a plus, demonstrating the ability to engage students of varying ages.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; relevant sailing certifications are highly desirable.
