The New York Milk Bank is dedicated to improving the health and survival of infants by providing pasteurized donor human milk when their mothers’ own milk is unavailable. We are seeking an energetic and motivated person to join our Donor Milk Processing department. As part of our purpose-driven organization, this position plays a key role in helping to nourish premature and medically fragile babies so they can reach their full potential.
Role:
The Milk Production Technician is a critical team member responsible for ensuring that milk from our generous donors is processed in a safe and high quality manner so that it can be dispensed to babies in need.
Job Type: Full-time, 5 days a week on site position, no remote work. Ability to work an 8-hour shift during hours of 8am-6pm.

Job Responsibilities (Daily):
- Preparing milk for pasteurization with an emphasis on thawing, pooling, pouring, bottling and labeling
- Conducting the pasteurization process and reviewing post-pasteurization reports
- Perform the nutritional analysis required
- Preparing milk samples for lab testing (bacteriological testing) as well as review and record results.
- Cleaning and preparing lab and related equipment for pasteurization
- Printing and application of labels to bottles post pasteurization
- Prepare written documentation as requested by the Lab Supervisor
- Participate in daily cleaning and preparing lab and related equipment for pasteurization
- Participate in weekly deep cleaning of the labs and equipment
- Stocking of supplies at the start and end of each day
- Assists with lab supplies inventory management
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work area
- Reports any concerns about safety, cleanliness and equipment malfunctions immediately to Lab Supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Able to maintain clean lab conditions according to protocols
- Organized, planning and time management skills
- Work independently and as part of the team
- Able to follow established protocols with significant attention to detail
- Strong computer skills
- Able to learn new tasks and multi-step processes in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of food handling or manufacturing practices preferred (can be trained)
- Working knowledge of Food Safety and Infection Prevention Control preferred (can be trained)
- Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be comfortable wearing PPE for duration of shift
- Stand for long periods of time
- Act in a professional manner through reliability, integrity, and treating others with respect
