Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk/Pain Management Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent patient service abilities, and familiarity with medical office operations. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, handle medical documentation, and support clinical staff to ensure smooth clinic operations, PRIOR AUTHORIZATIONN for Surgical PROCEDUE and DME. Your proactive approach and organizational skills will contribute significantly to delivering high-quality patient care and efficient office management.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Collect and process payments, perform insurance verification, and manage billing procedures related to medical collections.
- Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and review of care plans to support clinical staff.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries promptly.
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and managing office supplies.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and assist in intake procedures during visits.
- Utilize various EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth efficiently to document patient interactions and medical information.
- Perform general office management duties including maintaining medical records, verifying insurance coverage, and supporting billing processes.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and professional phone etiquette.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated clerical experience with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with privacy standards in all documentation practices.
