Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fitter-Welder for a full-time contract opportunity supporting the fabrication of custom structural weldments, tooling, machinery, and industrial equipment.
This position is ideal for a skilled fabricator who enjoys working from engineering drawings rather than repetitive production welding. The successful candidate will independently lay out, fit, fabricate, and weld complex assemblies while maintaining exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
The ideal candidate possesses strong blueprint reading skills, experience with MIG and TIG welding, and the ability to fabricate complete assemblies from raw material through finished product.

Key ResponsibilitiesFit-Up & Fabrication
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, engineering prints, weld symbols, and 1st and 3rd angle projections.
- Lay out, fit, and assemble fabricated steel structures and mechanical assemblies.
- Position, align, clamp, bolt, and tack components prior to final welding.
- Verify dimensions and fit-up using precision measuring equipment.
- Prepare components by grinding, cleaning, fitting, and aligning materials prior to welding.
Welding
- Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on:
- Carbon Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Aluminum
- Other specified alloys
- Weld assemblies in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Produce structurally sound welds that meet engineering and customer specifications.
- Perform weld cleanup using grinders and finishing tools.
- Minimize distortion while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
Quality & Inspection
- Inspect completed weldments to ensure they meet blueprint specifications.
- Verify dimensions using:
- Tape Measures
- Combination Squares
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Precision Measuring Equipment
- Identify quality concerns before parts move to the next operation.
- Maintain high workmanship standards throughout the fabrication process.
Manufacturing Support
- Collaborate with Shop Foreman, Engineering, and Production personnel.
- Assist with fabrication projects as production demands require.
- Support prototype, custom fabrication, and production work.
- Complete required production documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
