We are seeking a bilingual English/Spanish Registered Nurse (RN) to teach evening Home Health Aide (HHA) classes at our Perth Amboy branch. This part-time / per diem role offers flexible start dates and ongoing 4-week class sessions throughout the year.
Job Overview: HHA Class Instructor
As the HHA Class Instructor, you'll play a key part in preparing future home health aides by delivering high-quality instruction and education.
The ideal candidate is an active Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Instructor License, native or bilingual fluency in Spanish, experience in healthcare education or training, and a passion for educating future caregivers.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Teaching HHA Classes: Lead 4-week, in-person classes covering all aspects of home health aide duties
- Instructing in Spanish: Deliver course content in proficient or native Spanish; English bilingual skills are a plus
- Planning Lessons: Prepare lesson plans, course objectives, and student evaluations, including competency assessments
- Conducting Clinicals: Facilitate hands-on exercises to reinforce classroom learning
- Evaluating Students: Proctor and grade exams, assignments, and skill demonstrations
- Tracking Attendance & Progress: Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades
- Licensing Assistance: Guide students through the Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aide (CHHA) application process
- Maintaining Compliance: Adhere to state regulations and program requirements
- Collaborating with Administration: Work closely with HR and administrative staff to manage class operations
- Additional Training Duties: Perform other training-related tasks assigned by the Program Coordinator or management
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Native or bilingual fluency in Spanish
- Minimum of one year of home care experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Committed to helping students succeed and grow professionally
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Instructor License strongly preferred
- Previous teaching, training, or supervisory experience preferred
- English proficiency preferred, but not required
