Line Cook:
THE YARD (Detroit Axe) at CORKTOWN
The Yard is an extremely unique bar and event venue complete with two beautiful bars, a food truck housed in an indoor airstream trailer, axe throwing, a board game room with hundreds of games, pinball machines, shuffleboard, two huge outdoor fire pits, cornhole arenas, giant beer pong, and outdoor cabanas and decks.
We are seeking energetic, experienced line cooks. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the chef and sous chef with their daily tasks. We’re looking to add team members who will work hard to ensure our customers have a fantastic experience at our venue.
Responsibilities for Line Cooks and all Heart-of-House Employees:
- Responsible for the quality of products served
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to support a smooth service period
- Handles, stores, and rotates all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures
- Season and cook food according to recipes or training
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently using temperature probes and timers
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
- Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
- Closes the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations and assists others in closing the kitchen
- Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant
- Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations
Skills and Requirements:
- Able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment
- Knowledge of food service regulations
- Able to stay on your feet for an extended period of time
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Pay: Starting at $18 per hour
