As the Departmental Operations Office Chief, you’ll oversee FI$Cal’s Procurements, Contract Management, and Business Services Sections while serving as a key member of the department’s leadership team.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Administrative Services Division, you will provide strategic direction and oversight for critical operational functions, including procurement, contracts, facilities, security, telecommunications, and business services. You’ll collaborate with executive leadership, statewide partners, and vendors to ensure programs operate efficiently, remain compliant, and support FI$Cal’s mission. In this role, you will lead and develop managers and staff, drive process improvements, oversee major operational initiatives and capital projects, manage risk and audit activities, and help shape policies that support the department’s long-term success.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
Working Conditions
In compliance with Executive Order N22-25, this position will be in office Monday through Thursday beginning July 1, 2026. In-office attendance is mandatory on designated days and is subject to change. Our office is located at 2000 Evergreen Street, Sacramento, CA. Candidates residing outside of California are welcome to interview, but proof of California residency is required before appointment. Please note, relocation and commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a personal computer.
