Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. Duties
- Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using various financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday.
- Reconcile balance sheets and perform account analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and customer service inquiries related to billing.
- Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Assist in audit preparations by maintaining organized records of financial transactions and supporting documentation.
- Conduct routine account reconciliation activities such as bank reconciliations and general ledger reviews to uphold data integrity.
Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with ADP, Ceridian, UltiPro is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices to ensure compliance in all financial activities.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and spreadsheet management using Microsoft Office applications like Excel for data analysis.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while demonstrating strong numeracy skills for account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Experience with payroll systems such as Workday or Kronos; familiarity with tax regulations is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills for customer service related to billing inquiries or account issues.
- Prior experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments is preferred; knowledge of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance is beneficial.
