Contract Length: 10-13 weeks
Hours: 48 hours/week
Pay Travel:
- Total Weekly Gross: $3050
- Travel Rate: $29.71/hour
- Travel Overtime Rate: $44.57/hour
- Travel Stipend: $1505 untaxed weekly stipend
Job Summary: The Travel Telemetry Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in various healthcare settings. This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to patient safety and well-being while working in telemetry units across different healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, detecting abnormalities and promptly reporting concerns to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Assess patients’ hemodynamic status, monitor oxygen saturation, and recognize signs of deterioration.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Provide care for post-cardiac procedures, including managing telemetry equipment and ensuring proper lead placement.
Care Coordination:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate and document any changes in patient conditions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Advocate for patient needs, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and families about telemetry monitoring, cardiac conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
- Provide guidance on home care, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up appointments.
- Support families in understanding the care process and long-term health management.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility protocols.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Adhere to hospital and nursing standards, including infection control policies, HIPAA compliance, and safety protocols.
Crisis Management and Emergency Care:
- Respond promptly to changes in patient status, including cardiac arrhythmias and medical emergencies.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical expertise to manage urgent situations effectively.
- Operate and troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment efficiently.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and strategies.
- Provide support and guidance to new staff and assist with training as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current state nursing license.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a telemetry or step-down unit is required.
- Travel nursing experience is required.
Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and emergency response.
- Ability to adapt to different healthcare environments and work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate, patient-focused care with a high level of professionalism.
Certifications :
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Working Conditions:
- Travel Telemetry Nurses work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, cardiac step-down units, and telemetry floors.
- Assignments may vary in duration and location, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
- Work schedules may include day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, assisting patients with mobility, and lifting or repositioning patients.
