Position Overview
The Toddler Teacher at Lisa’s Kiddiegarten is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and engaging classroom environment for toddlers. This position supports each child’s social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive growth while maintaining compliance with North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) child care rules and center policies.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise toddlers at all times and maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and welcoming classroom environment.
· Plan and implement age-appropriate daily activities that promote learning through play, exploration, music, movement, sensory experiences, outdoor play, and positive social interaction.
· Follow classroom schedules and routines, including meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, transitions, and outdoor activities.
· Use positive guidance techniques that encourage self-regulation, independence, kindness, and respectful behavior.
· Monitor children’s health, safety, and well-being and promptly report concerns, injuries, illnesses, or suspected abuse or neglect according to center policy and state requirements.
· Maintain accurate classroom records, including attendance, incident reports, daily notes, developmental observations, and required documentation.
· Communicate professionally and respectfully with families about each child’s day, development, needs, and progress.
· Work cooperatively with co-teachers, assistants, the director, and other staff to maintain required staff-to-child ratios and consistent classroom expectations.
· Follow all Lisa’s Kiddiegarten policies, sanitation procedures, emergency procedures, confidentiality expectations, and DCDEE licensing requirements.
· Participate in staff meetings, professional development, required trainings, and ongoing quality improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Must meet North Carolina DCDEE preservice requirements for child care teachers or lead teachers, including holding the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential or equivalent, or completing required child development training within the required timeframe if not already credentialed.
· Must complete and maintain all required criminal background checks, health and safety trainings, and employment documentation required by Lisa’s Kiddiegarten and North Carolina child care licensing rules.
· Must be willing to complete required annual training hours and any additional training required for the toddler classroom.
· Must be able to communicate effectively with children, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
