Overview
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager and President, the Victim Advocate provides trauma-informed, empowerment-based advocacy and comprehensive case management services to adult and minor survivors of human trafficking participating in the Fighting Human Trafficking Program. The Victim Advocate is responsible for crisis intervention, safety planning, supportive counseling, service coordination, participant advocacy, and connecting survivors with community resources to promote safety, stability, and long-term recovery.
This position works closely with community partners, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to ensure participants receive coordinated, survivor-centered services. The schedule consists primarily of daytime office hours with occasional evening, after-hours, and remote response as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Screen prospective participants and conduct program intakes.
- Assess participant needs, strengths, risks, and barriers using a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach.
- Develop individualized service plans that address immediate and long-term needs, including housing, legal assistance, healthcare, mental health services, transportation, employment, education, and basic needs.
- Conduct lethality assessments and develop individualized safety plans.
- Provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy, information, referrals, and emotional support.
- Coordinate emergency hotel accommodations and other emergency services as appropriate.
- Schedule participant appointments for case management, counseling, medical care, legal services, and other supportive services.
- Arrange transportation for participants to appointments and other essential services.
- Serve as a liaison between participants and community service providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Provide ongoing follow-up services and continued support after participants exit the program when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate participant files, case notes, assessments, progress notes, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Complete all required intake documents, assessment tools, grant documentation, and statistical reporting.
- Assist with data entry, grant reporting, monthly statistics, and program reporting requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policies, grant requirements, and applicable laws.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and program planning.
- Attend agency meetings, required trainings, community outreach events, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with community education, outreach activities, and presentations regarding human trafficking and available victim services.
- Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and local, regional, and federal stakeholders to strengthen service delivery.
- Assist with additional agency responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
- Provide occasional after-hours response and support to participants as needed.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience working with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual violence, or other trauma populations is preferred.
- Experience in crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, or victim services preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the dynamics of human trafficking, trauma-informed care, victim advocacy, and survivor-centered services.
- Understanding of community resources and service systems.
- Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop professional relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, flexibility, and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Certifications and Requirements
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Reliable transportation with current automobile insurance.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
- Credentialed Victim Advocate (or ability to obtain credential after hire).
- Willingness to complete ongoing Victim Advocate training required to maintain credentialing.
- Successful completion of required background screening and drug screening.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and after-hours as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands throughout the workday.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to travel throughout the service area as needed.
- Ability to perform work in a standard office environment with moderate noise levels.

Supervision
This position does not supervise staff.
Business Contacts
Regular interaction with participants, law enforcement agencies, healthcare providers, social service organizations, housing providers, schools, legal professionals, government agencies, and other community partners.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $41,000.00 per year
