Job description
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
Garden Pediatrics | Redlands, California
Part-Time to Full-Time | New Graduates Encouraged to Apply | Employer-Based Clinical Pediatric NP Residency
Garden Pediatrics is a physician-led, privately owned pediatric practice seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about relationship-based pediatric care and committed to lifelong learning.
Whether you are a new graduate or an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, every clinician who joins our practice participates in our structured Garden Pediatrics Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. We believe exceptional pediatric clinicians are developed through intentional mentorship, thoughtful feedback, and progressive clinical responsibility—not simply orientation.
If you're looking for more than your next job and instead hope to find a long-term professional home where you can grow, build meaningful relationships with families, and practice thoughtful, evidence-based medicine, we'd love to meet you.
About Garden Pediatrics
For nearly 20 years, Garden Pediatrics has provided personalized, evidence-based pediatric care to families throughout the Inland Empire.
As a physician-led practice, we are committed to:
- Relationship-based care
- Clinical excellence
- Thoughtful, evidence-based medicine
- Strong teamwork
- Clinical accountability
- Long-term professional development
Our goal is to create an environment where clinicians feel supported, challenged, and valued while building rewarding careers caring for children and adolescents.
Position Structure
This position is intentionally designed for gradual, supported growth.
New clinicians begin on a part-time schedule and increase patient care hours approximately every two months as clinical proficiency, confidence, and patient panel growth develop.
Patient care schedules progress through the following pathway:
- 20 Patient Care Hours (PCH) per week*
- 24 PCH per week*
- 28 PCH per week
- 32 PCH per week
- 36 PCH per week (full-time)
*Clinicians may begin at either 20 or 24 patient care hours per week based on experience and practice needs.
Administrative time is built into compensation and includes documentation, lab review, patient communication, and care coordination. Administrative work may be completed flexibly while maintaining documentation and communication standards.
Monday and Friday patient care availability is required.
Garden Pediatrics Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Residency
All Pediatric Nurse Practitioners hired by Garden Pediatrics participate in our employer-based clinical Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. While this is not an accredited postgraduate residency, it is intentionally modeled after physician residency training and is designed to provide a supported transition into independent pediatric primary care.
Rather than expecting clinicians to "hit the ground running," we believe outstanding pediatric clinicians develop through graduated responsibility, direct physician mentorship, and intentional teaching.
New Graduate Residency (Approximately 6 Months)
Our residency includes:
- Progressive increase in patient care hours approximately every two months
- Twenty-minute appointment templates during early training
- Direct physician mentorship
- Weekly protected one-hour one-on-one didactic sessions
- Case review and clinical discussion
- Comprehensive chart review with individualized feedback
- Training in newborn care, preventive medicine, asthma, ADHD, behavioral health, adolescent medicine, and evidence-based pediatric primary care
- Progressive increase in patient volume and clinical independence based on demonstrated competency
Clinical expectations increase gradually throughout residency, allowing clinicians to build confidence while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Experienced Clinician Residency
Experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioners complete an individualized onboarding program, typically lasting 2–3 months, with the same emphasis on mentorship, clinical consistency, and successful integration into the practice. The length of training is individualized based on prior experience and demonstrated competency.
A Long-Term Investment
Our residency is designed as the beginning of a long-term career—not a temporary training position.
We are seeking clinicians who hope to establish a professional home where they can build lasting relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Our goal is to invest deeply in your development with the expectation that, if the residency is successfully completed and the relationship is a strong mutual fit, you will transition into a permanent ¾-time (32 patient care hours) or full-time (36 patient care hours) position, depending on your preferences and the needs of the practice.
We believe continuity matters—not only for our patients, but for our clinicians. We are committed to building a stable, collaborative team where clinicians can continue to grow professionally for many years.
Compensation
Garden Pediatrics uses a transparent compensation model based on scheduled patient care hours, clinical productivity, and experience.
During the residency, compensation increases as patient care hours increase.
Approximate annualized compensation during residency:
- Months 0–2: $70,000–$84,000
- Months 3–4: $84,000–$98,000
- Months 5–6: Approximately $112,000
Following successful completion of residency, clinicians may choose to remain at a 32 patient care hour schedule or transition to a full-time 36 patient care hour schedule.
Current post-residency compensation ranges from approximately $86,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on scheduled patient care hours, with additional salary growth based on longevity, leadership, and continued contribution to the practice.
Benefits
Benefits are designed to grow alongside scheduled patient care hours.
Eligible clinicians receive:
- Employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance (prorated based on scheduled patient care hours)
- Malpractice insurance
- Licensure and certification reimbursement
- Annual CME allowance
- Safe Harbor 401(k) plan (per plan eligibility)
- Employee Assistance Program
- Paid time off and sick leave based on patient care hours
- Weekly protected educational time during residency
- Ongoing physician mentorship and professional development
Employer benefit contributions increase as scheduled patient care hours increase.
Call
Clinicians begin participating in a shared telephone call rotation after completing approximately three months of employment and demonstrating comfort with practice workflows.
Most after-hours concerns are initially managed through nurse triage, with clinicians contacted only when concerns fall outside established protocols.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's or Doctorate from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program
- Current California Nurse Practitioner license (or eligibility)
- National Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Current BLS certification

- Welcomes constructive feedback
